St. Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious holiday that commemorates the most recognized patron saint of Ireland as well as the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. The day is celebrated by attending church services and wearing green. It marks the end of the Lenten restrictions of eating and drinking alcohol.
In the United States, although not a legal holiday, St. Patrick's Day is still widely celebrated especially with the Irish and Irish American community. It is commonly celebrated by prominent displays of the color green, feasting, consumption of alcohol to include green beer, religious observances, and parades.
For the sixth year, Scottsdale is celebrating the annual St. Patrick's Evening Run/Walk in Old Town Scottsdale on Saturday, March 17th. Let’s all celebrate our inner Irish spirit and welcome spring in our green clothes, shoes, ties and what have you. Let's make a healthy start to our St. Patty's Day – Run or walk, jog or skip.
The race course follows the banks of the Arizona Canal. It begins on the south bank at 6820 East 5th Ave, then between 56th St and Goldwater. From south of Goldwater to the south bank, then we all finish at west bank. You will get to witness what the city of Scottsdale Arizona offers and the beauty of Scottsdale real estate.
St. Patrick's wouldn't be complete without a nice cold cup of green beer. Quench that thirst and enjoy the on-site beer garden.
