The school year is almost over and here comes the hot summer months. For most of the students, summer means spending the whole day in front of the computer or television, others spend it playing under the sun, in the pool, or hang out with friends. Better yet, enroll in a summer class or visit a relative. Have you planned on how you're going to spend your summer yet? If still undecided, why not spend your summer a little different or should I say, worthwhile.

Scottsdale Volunteer Programs is being offered for everyone this summer. It is the city's mission to cultivate citizen trust by fostering and practicing open and responsive government and protecting livability, neighborhoods, and enhancing neighborhoods. The quality of life shall be the City's paramount consideration.

Here are the list of some of the Scottsdale Volunteer Program for your edification.

  Paiute Neighborhood Center

  
  

The center is in need of volunteers for the following programs:

- After-School Program Tutoring

- Teen Center Tutoring

- Seasonal Holiday Program

- Paiute Toy Program

If you have any special talents that you are willing to share with the group, you certainly fit into this Center.

  Parks and Recreation – Helping Hands

  
  

Interested in giving back to the community? There are several volunteer opportunities for those interested in working in a park and recreation environment.

  Library

  
  

The library is an exciting place to work with many opportunities available. Volunteer jobs include assisting or conducting story times, working in the Library shops, doing outreach, assisting customer with computer questions and teaching computer classes.

  Handlebar Helper Program

  
  

This is a unique Scottsdale volunteer program. You can earn a free bike volunteering at any programs listed here. The 2 programs that will benefit children between the ages 12-17, and adults looking to volunteer. 

Earn-A-Bike Program – Scottsdale residents and non-residents can earn a free bike by contributing 25 hours of volunteer through Scottsdale volunteer programs. This is open to both children and adults who volunteers at a local school, and other volunteer program.

Handlebar Helpers Apprentice Program – For youth ages 12-17 years of age. Participants work on bicycles during the week after school, learning how to repair and recondition bicycles under supervision of skilled volunteers.
